
The 16th Felicja Blumental International Music Festival opens at Tel Aviv Museum of Art

TEL AVIV.- This annual festival at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, March 31st – April 05th 2014, initiated and directed by Annette Celine, Felicja Blumental’s daughter, presents, as always, an abundance of interesting performances. The program offers something for every music lover, from early music to Gypsy world swing and Portuguese Cultural Heritage “Fado”, as well as children’s events.

Dmitry Shostakovich (1906-1975) was 11 years old at the time of the Bolshevik Revolution and his career as a musician developed during Stalin’s reign. According do Shostakovich’s later testimony his art was influenced by the political situation and he might have written in a different style if he would have had artistic freedom.
