The 16th Felicja Blumental International Music Festival opens at Tel Aviv Museum of Art

TEL AVIV.- This annual festival at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, March 31st – April 05th 2014, initiated and directed by Annette Celine, Felicja Blumental’s daughter, presents, as always, an abundance of interesting performances. The program offers something for every music lover, from early music to Gypsy world swing and Portuguese Cultural Heritage “Fado”, as well as children’s events.

Here are details of some of the varied program of concerts performed by extraordinary international and Israeli artists:

Dmitry Shostakovich (1906-1975) was 11 years old at the time of the Bolshevik Revolution and his career as a musician developed during Stalin’s reign. According do Shostakovich’s later testimony his art was influenced by the political situation and he might have written in a different style if he would have had artistic freedom.

This concert celebrates the 300th anniversary of Johann Sebastian Bach’s second son birth, in a program designed to present several of the various genres Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach composed in symphony, concerto, sacred oratorio, secular cantata as well as giving an overview of his different compositional styles.
