For the first time in Europe, never before shown photo-prints from the series ‚1-2-3-4’ from Anton Corbijn are being exhibited under the title ‚#5’ at the Galerie Anita Beckers in Frankfurt am Main. The images, produced between 1972 – 2014, are exclusively of musicians, including David Bowie, Johnny Cash, Kurt Cobain, Nick Cave and Patti Smith. In order to show the complete comprehensive group of works, the gallery has been able to procure a second location at the studio and exhibition house ATELIERFRANKFURT.

In the past twenty-five years, Anton Corbijn has, in addition to his music photography, photographed every artist he had interest in from the worlds of film, painting, writing and modelling. Besides photography he has taken up film direction in a very successful way, having made four feature films (“Control,“ “The American,“ “A Most Wanted Man,“ and “Life“) in the last ten years.

Throughout his 40+ years career, Corbijn has helped to define the image of world famous bands and musicians such as U2, Depeche Mode, Metallica, Herbert Grönemeyer, Nick Cave and many more; as well as that of icons like Miles Davis, David Bowie, Gerhard Richter, and Clint Eastwood.

Following his work as a directior and due to the many exhibitions, most recently the retrospectives in 2015 at the Gemeentemuseum and Fotomuseum in The Hague as well as the C/O Berlin, Corbijn is never out of the spotlight of the international media. In 2011, he was awarded the Prince Bernhard Cultuurfonds Prijs, the highest cultural honor in the Netherlands, and in 2014, he received the Frankfurt Book Fair prize for the best literary adaptation of John le Carré’s spy-thriller A Most Wanted Man.

At the opening on July 27th, Galerie Anita Beckers shows the first part of the exhibition in the Braubachstrasse 9, which will be changed out for different motifs from ’#5’ after three weeks, starting on August 16, 2016.
