The opening reception of “Harmonious but Diverse•China Contemporary Nominated Sculpture Exhibition” will be held in “Yan—huang art museum” in Beijing at 15:00, 25th April. It will last till 29th April. This exhibition is hosted by China Professional Sculpture Committee and Chinese Sculpture Magazine. It is a big national learned exhibition after the “Huang-Tian-Hou-Tu” Sculpture Exhibition which was also sponsored by them in 2005. “Harmonious but Diverse” is from old Chinese philosophy. As to art, it means we should keep harmonious in developing but individual should pursue special and distinct features and style of itself.There are more than 120 wonderful sculptures. Most of the exhibitors are famous and leading sculptors in China. Such as Shaowu Qian(the director of China Professional Sculpture Committee ), Meilin Han(famous sculptor, the designer of ‘Fuwa’ in Olympic 2008), Chenggang Zeng(the vice president of China Artists Association), Jianguo Sui(the director of Sculpture Department in Central Academy of Fine Art ), Yungang Chen(the director of Sculpture Department of Xi’an Fine Art Academy), Liming(the dean of Guangzhou Fine Art Academy), Zhongwang Fu(the vice dean of Hubei Fine Art Academy), Jinguo Xiang(the director of Sculpture Department of Hubei Fine Art Academy), Weishan Wu(the dean of Sculpture Academe of Nanjing University, me,member of RBS), Fengchen Yang(the president of Taiwan Sculptors Institute)etc. There are also a few Young outstanding sculptors with potential show their creative works in this exhibition. They are mainly selected from rounds of local exhibitions. In order to discover and display works of different styles influenced by regions, cultures, nations, the sponsor first organized a series of local exhibitions in different regions throughout the country, then nominated some works (by the host Shuangxi Yin) in the exhibitions, and finally examined and decided the works list of the exhibition in Beijing (by the art committee). In every region, there is an organizer responsible for the local exhibition. Each region regarded this exhibition as a good opportunity to show their local sculpture creation. With the local exhibitions also come out series of sculpture albums from different regions. There will be several “Learned Prize” born through the appraisal of Art Committee of the exhibition. After this exhibition, some of the sculptures on display will be send to Shenzhen [as one of the activities of the 3th The 3rd China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF)] for a traveling exhibition.
