Research Posts Now in 9 Asian Countries

With the world’s most comprehensive public collection of 20,000 items of material on contemporary Asian art, and active organiser of over 50 public educational programmes, Asia Art Archive(AAA) has become an internationally recognized organisation and resource in the field of contemporary Asian art. In the aim of increasing understanding, encouraging dialogue, building greater networks and facilitating research and writing on the field of Asian art, AAA has recently established research posts in 9 countries in Asia with head researcher based in Hong Kong: China, Hong Kong, Taiwan in 2002; adding Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand to the list in 2005 ; and recently India, Pakistan and The Philippines in 2007. To facilitate in-depth study on and keep track of the multifarious contemporary Asian art developments around the world, AAA’s 10 researchers attend and participate in events and exhibitions, collect publications and primary source materials, document events and exhibitions and conduct video-interviews with key artists, critics and curators. All material acquired is made publicly accessible for research from AAA’s website and physical library in Hong Kong. The researchers also assist AAA in developing regional networks and initiating focused research projects to further improve the collection. "This is an exciting time for the Archive.
