Fans of Chinese contemporary art are in for a treat as one of the genre's better known artist - Liu Guoqiang - will be exhibiting his works in Singapore come August (18th).This is thanks to a growing interest in Chinese art - which some say, is now coming into its own in the East.If a picture paints a thousand words, then these paintings will speak of the decades of change in China, for gallery director Susanna Yang. They also present a way to capture memories, celebrate China's icons, entertain or make a statement, often in bold colours. And her favourite is the painting Feng Bei Zhi Yi by Liu Guoqiang, who will be showcasing some 20 to 25 pieces of his work in Singapore.A venue is now being worked out for this. Yang Gallery - the newest in town - features artwork by eight Chinese artists."I mainly try to select something with strong Chinese culture and politics and also make sure it's a good artist with good skills, and some value with investment as well. Chinese contemporary art is hot everywhere, New York, Paris, London, in auction people are queuing to buy Chinese art," says Susanna Yang, Managing Director of the Yang Gallery. Now that her Singapore gallery is up and running, Susanna is setting her sights on one in Paris next to further promote the appreciation of Chinese art.
