China Scenes Exhibition opens at Shanghai by Levant Art Gallery on 2007-07-15～2007-08-10. Jean Louis Simeray, French gifted painter of 43 years old and graphic designer used to creat for friends and family only. It is just recently that he agreed to develop and show his art by marrying his paintings, photography with computer work, allowing him to express furthermore the limits of his creativity. Though of abstract and "pop art" inspiration, the artist freely or ironically expresses his talent through more classical work as seen with some nature morte, portraits of women, love story through huge series, urban visions of New York and streets in China. Some collections of paintings though express the real rebel nature of his inspiration and the violence of the drawing combined with the incredible intensity of the colors give the work an amazing strength.His amazing talent expresses itself greatly in China where he would combine his modern style, vision and fantastic colors with Chinese traditional painting style.He would freely develop views extracted from daily life in China as well as review traditional subjects developed in Chinese art with his very personal touch. All of this artwork is a complete renewal of painted art techniques and opens unknown perspectives pushing further the limits of art creation.He has been shown in the Shanghai Art Museum in a huge solo exhibition from January 16th to 30th, 2007, has had several great exhibitions in Shanghai and Wuhan and is now showing his most recent and surprising collections in Levant Art Gallery.This new collection designed in Shanghai describes traditional life scenes in China painted with Chinese brush and ink but brought to never seen perspective through the artist’s color work.
