Anthony Caro: Sculptures in the Great Hall

2007-07-31 10:27:29 未知

The Nasher Museum is pleased to exhibit four works by Sir Anthony Caro in the Mary D.B.T. Semans Great Hall. Three sculptures are on loan from the Raymond and Patsy Nasher Collection in Dallas, Texas. The fourth sculpture, Catalan Cowl, has recently been given to the museum by Duke alumnus Blake Byrne, class of 1957, in honor of Raymond D. Nasher, who passed away March 16, 2007. Sir Anthony Caro is widely regarded as one of the world's greatest living sculptors. Working in metal, and creating both abstract and figural works throughout his career, Caro was among the first leading sculptors to move away from the use of pedestals, displaying his work directly on the ground. Caro was born in Surrey, England, and lives and works in London, continuing to produce new work. In 2005 he had a major career retrospective at Tate Britain, London.
