We're gonna move along to the big city of Shanghai, where there's singing and dancing. More than 2,000 kids from around the world have converge on the city. The Shanghai International Children's Cultural and Art Festival started over the weekend with a grand opening ceremony. In the opening show "Happy Garden," young performers from 23 countries and regions took to the stage, presenting the traditional choreography of their homelands. Chinese children danced to "What Beautiful Jasmine." Japanese children, to "Wheat Festival". One of the highlights of the festival is a musical exchange programme between children from China and the US. The young musicians played masterpieces of each other's countries. The festival was inaugurated in 1994 and is held every three years in Shanghai. The event is sponsored by the China Welfare Institute, Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and the Soong Ching Ling Foundation. The theme for this year's festival is "Peace, Friendship and the Future". Beside the artistic exchange programs, the children will taste the local cuisine and take in the sights of exotic Shanghai.
