"Treasures of Ancient India" exhibition starts from August 3 continuing till September 10th, at Nanyue King Museum in Guangzhou. The exhibition is co-sponsored by Archaeological Survey of India, Chinese Administration of Cultural Heritage and Guangzhou Organizing Committee of Asian Games (GAGOC). Selected from 13 Indian museums, these more than 100 pieces of ancient Indian sculptures have very distinct ethical features and strong artistic appeal. Most of them are shown in China for the first time. The most important point is, 80% of these ancient sculptures have not been shown outside of India before. According to Mr. Luo Jingjun, Director of Press and Publicity Department of GAGOC, Guangzhou will take the opportunity of the Asian Games to develop itself into a "multicultural city". GAGOC will hold more similar kinds of foreign cultural exhibitions to help Guangzhou citizens know more about the multiformity and abundance of Asian civilization. In 2006, the Year of China-India Friendship, the circuit exhibition of "Treasures of Ancient India" was held in Beijing, Henan, Chongqing and Guangzhou. As the last station of the exhibition, Nanyue King Museum in Guangzhou is presenting the cultural feast for free to primary and middle school students and the handicapped.
