What Ligang works to convey in his abstract inkwash works is the tensility of the materials. To make the "will" of the inkwash materials widely known is both a feature, a cultural predestination and the historical responsibility carried via the use of inkwash materials. The denial of tradition does not stand for modernity, just as the establishment of "modernity" does not necessarily make tradition sacrifice voluntarily and "fearlessly". We have come to know that a part of the task to establish modernity has to be finished by the traditional. And this is the very spiritual gist composing the inkwash experimental works on exhibit.
