ArtWALK and PechaKucha Beijing are proud to host our 4th events at Jiuchang Art District on September 22nd organized with Arario Gallery. Our events are especially designed to coincide with the opening exhibitions and art events of various Jiuchang artgalleries, as well as the Beijing Dangdai International Art Festival (DIAF) at the 798 Art District and the Art Beijing art fair. ArtWALK Beijing is a regular gathering for the community to explore and engage in the city’s vibrant contemporary art scene. The event is free and open to the public with specific aims to provide a social platform on which to experience the explosion of creativity on display in these unique cultural venues. The expression Pecha Kucha is Japanese and translates best as “the sound of conversation”. Pecha Kucha Night, devised by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham (Klein Dytham architecture), was conceived in 2003 as a place for young designers to meet, network and show their work in public. Pecha Kucha Night has spread virally to over a dozen cities across the world. The principals for each Pecha Kucha night are the same:The speakers are allowed to showcase 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds - giving a total presentation time of 6 minutes and 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. This keeps the presentations concise and the interest level up - more people have the chance to show their work. ArtWALKers visit various art venues : Arario Gallery I, II, III; PYO Gallery ;Cube Gallery ;South Stream Studio ;Xin Dong Cheng Space for Contemporary Art ; MUN Gallery ;TRA Gallery TRA.
