“Dressing” is a contemporary photography exhibition hold by Cetus Gallery which is located in No. 165 South Shanxi Road 0n 27th Aug. 2007-30th Oct. 2007. The gallery is established by Mz. Yu Aihui, the elite in business circles, who ardently love art and collecting artwork. The first opening exhibition of Cetus Gallery is ‘Alternative Insight’ which planned by Mr. Zhao Li, the professor of the central academy. And the artists of ‘Alternative Insight’ are Ji Dachun, Mao Huaiqing and Wu Tinghua who showed contemporary art through easel painting. The first exhibition achieved universal concern and praise within the industry. The artists of the second exhibition “Dressing” are Hong Lei, Chen Ke and Shi Guowe. And the contemporary photographic work is the subject of “Dressing” which with contemporary concept and distinctive style.Mr. Zhao Li, the professor of the central academy is invited again to especially scheme the exhibition “Dressing” of Cetus Gallery which with classical compact layout. Consequently, “Dressing” still continues the pattern of collecting. And its idea is to present the characteristic of photography creation that directly contain dramatic result and remaining meaning. Moreover, perhaps the essential part of “dressing” is the conception of advanced creation and the ability of process-controlling. From a creative and technical point of view, the photographic works of exhibition “Dressing” returns to the exquisite handmade quality from being absolutely dependent on technique. Simultaneously, they embody contemporary photography that enriches contemporary multiculture through conception, technique and media. The three artists of the exhibition endues “dressing” with more dramatic characteristic through choosing the creation style that indicates “dressing” meaning and stage effect at the same time. Further more, the works of Chen Ke and Shi Guowei are added handmade recoloring skill. They not only reflect that photography and easel painting are borrowing skills from each other, but also embody the artists’ sensible character and amusing part of art works.
