It seems everyone search for reasonable distance and exchangeable ideal between real self and performing self in the human’s social life. So far as the distance and ideal, perhaps the efficient way of presenting them is “dressing”.Drama is the realistic source of “dressing”. It put a high premium on pattern and renewal of exterior image in the view of formal meaning. The word “dressing” remains us experience to the process and surprise to the result further than the attribute of definition’s transformation. The surveying standard of dressing’s outcome may be focus on inner feeling such as stealthy exultation in melancholy way or light desolation in colorful way that lurked under the action. Perhaps the infelt expectations and dramatic outcome make “dressing” in active groping impulsion and charm.Importantly, characteristic of photography creation as a kind of expression is wider and straighter than drama at the present day. It is easier to satisfy the demand of role from the essence of humanity. Simultaneously, photography is more flexible in creation and steadier in presentation than drama. What’s more, it can contain entire drama in remaining meaning of form, which straightly demonstrates the result of dressing meaning instead of substitution.Perhaps the essential part of “dressing” is the conception of advanced creation and the ability of process-controlling, which happened to have the same view as contemporary photography. Their creations involve more or less stage effect, background, properties and atmosphere-building that endues “dressing” objects with more dramatic characteristic. Further more, the works of Chen Ke and Shi Guowei are added handmade recoloring skill. Not only the vague appearance of clothing, decorations and subjective images, but also the designed atmosphere through light and background are related to the meaning and fun of “dressing”. They also reflect that photography and painting are borrowing skills from each other. Likewise, they embody the amusing part of artists’ sensible character.
