Northwest China's Gansu Province plans to build the world longest sculptures complex of key historical figures along the western section of the Yellow River scenic corridor, also part of the ancient Silk Road that runs through Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu. The sculptures complex, which has been named "Passion of Ancient Silk Road", will be composed of 24 giant sculptures, featuring great Chinese ancestors and emperors and giving a panoramic highlight of China's 5000 year history. The whole complex will be 160 meters long and four meters wide, and will occupy an area of 10 thousand square meters. China News Service quoted sources at Lanzhou's Bureau of Parks and Woods as saying, the whole project will take 18 months to finish, with a total investment of 8.5 million yuan, or about 1.1 million dollars. Gansu-born artist, Zhang Chunyang, has spent five years completing the required archetype sculptures.
