Seven Sins: The Seven Performances in China Avant-Garde Exhibition is the first academically curated retrospective exhibition in Beijing Art Now Gallery's Shanghai site on September 4 th – October 30th , 2007. China Avant-Garde Exhibition, held in 1989 at the National Art Museum of China, is wildly regarded as being the first and the most significant Chinese avant-garde collective official group show in Chinese contemporary art history. This September, we have assembled a series of historical photography, video and installation art works that represent the seven sensational performances that were presented by the artists Wen Pulin, Xiao Lu, Li Shan, Wu Shanzhuan, Zhang Nian, Wang Deren, Zhu Yanguang, Ren Xiaoying, Wang Liang and Da Tong Da Zhang.
