The Art Museum at Michigan State University hosts The Paper Sculpture Show from September 4 through October 14, 2007. “The Paper Sculpture Show, organized by iCI, is an interactive exhibition where visitors become part of the art-making process as they are encouraged to "complete the artworks" by cutting out and assembling the sculptures created for the exhibition by 29 artists.” The Paper Sculpture Show - This is an interactive exhibition that brings artists and visitors together by providing a hands-on art making experience. The exhibition is composed of works by 20 artists, drawn on flat sheets of paper and stacked in the gallery space. The visitor chooses a project, takes the printed sheet, cuts out and assembles the three-dimensional sculpture. Resonant of Surrealist games and the Fluxus movement, the show invites visitors to reconsider the relationship between two- and three-dimensional sculptural objects, originality, mass production and the handmade. Artists who have provided projects include Chris Ware, Glenn Ligon, the Art Guys, Cildo Morales, Sarah Sze, and Eve Sussman, among others. As the weeks pass, the gallery spaces become filled with artwork. Organized by Independent Curators International.
