The talents, skills and the diligent work of Chinese designers are winning growing acclaim among the international arts community. The latest evidence is revealed by the announcement that Europe most prestigious porcelain museum has acquired works by a Chinese artist. Musee National Adrien Dubonche, is situated in one of the porcelain capitals of the world, Limoges. The museum held a ceremony, to announce that it is collecting Chinese based artist Francis Chen's series entitled "Rising from the Sea of Fortune." Under the supervision of China's Forbidden City Museum, the works were jointly created with Bernardaud, Christofle and Baccarat, the superlative French brands in Porcelain, silverware and crystal respectively. Combining imperial Eastern aesthetics and Western art nouveau, the pieces being collected reveal further evidence of a flourishing Sino-French exchange in art. Artistically the milestone is even more important. For centuries, Jingde Town in East China's Jiangxi Province was the largest exporter of fine porcelain to Europe. That changed. European and American based porcelain has cornered the international market through creativity of design. How does China emerge from the shadows to regain the past glory of Chinese ceramics? Innovation is the key to rejuvenation.Wu Lianpeng, designer, said, "We were determined to let Chinese porcelain shed new light. So we tried to use symbols of ancient Chinese culture in the design. The patterns on the emperors' gowns proved perfectly suitable."As the birthplace of ceramics, China has vast human resources and technology invested in the porcelain industry. In efforts to restore China's place of honor in the art form, a revolution in Chinese porcelain design has begun.
