The Beijing-based national newspaper The People's Daily, set out to raise money to build "the Olympic School," for ethnic minority children in the middle of this year. The paper began a campaign requesting donations of art work to fund construction of the school. After nearly four months, it's done well. His hand may shake a little. The old man did not hesitate when approached by solicitors for the charitable campaign. Recently, at Beijing's Long-tan-hu Park, the calligrapher and fellow artists donated their works at an official ceremony. Among others, the pieces include a long scroll of calligraphy composed of twenty-nine Chinese characters: "dragon". The dragon is the zodiac animal representing the spirit of the Chinese nation. Next year's 2008 Beijing Olympic Games is founded on a theme of "One World, One Dream". The blending of the dragon motif and the Olympic theme, serves as an eloquent statement, that the spirit of the nation plays its part, to assist the needy children of ethnic families.
