Blow-up Photography Exhibition Provides a Discussional Basis for Contemporary Arts

“Blow-up” originally refers to a technique in photography, but defined here as “the exoteric and continuous dialogues, the discussions on contemporary art and strategies, and the interests in the reversion of the production of arts” in a re-opened space. In this exhibition, all the details, such as working concepts, plans and preparations, installations, field investigations, audio-geography researches and practices, are magnified for textual researches and analysis, so as to establish a basis for dialogues, communications and debates.Through complexity of the works and the seem-to-be confusion, the exhibition intends to break up people’s dependence on fixed psychological patterns and the unimaginative way of thinking. There are no fixed ideas and modes, nor even real “works” but only continuously produced “implication in creating”, strictly examined “place experiences” and “worldly knowledge” for global synchronizing. Furthermore, any of the pictures in this exhibition can be reorganized or recombined, or to establish a new art production relationship in a new space; this “concept” and the emphasis on the uncertainty of people’s way of thinking temporarily eliminate the influences of capital system on contemporary arts and the constraints of the fixed centered-notions. As one of the motif sections in 2007 PIP, “Blow-up” is attempting to build up a bridge in this ancient city for international communication and discussions, and to demonstrate the chanciness and wisdom in art creation, but not to handle and explain the exhibiting system of contemporary arts. Interestingly enough, the art group from London, FrenchMottershead, also expresses the similar idea: Art, it is actually a way to draw attention to daily life.
