Eastlink presents a group show Neo Wave. Artists include Chen Yun, Hu Zi, Ji Ji, Liang Tao, Lin Zhipeng, Maleonn, More, Qing Tonyi, Peng and Chen, Perk, Tang Yan, Wei Chao, Ying Yefu, Feng Chen, Cao Shu, Wu Yishen, Xia Guofu.Neo Wave showcases the work of an emerging group of artists who have born witness to an astonishing transition in society around them, unprecedented in the modern world and marked by an extraordinary surge in consumerism and material culture. From an early age this new generation has been immersed in a world of images and their work reflects this. Working in photography, video, animation and installation they draw on an infinite range of influences procured from the material and virtual world. Although highly individual, their art expresses a collective visual expression based on shared values and experiences and marks the emergence of a new social and cultural order, redefined but as yet still exploratory.This exhibition runs in conjunction with the eARTS Festival – China’s first and the world’s largest electronic media arts festival - held here in Shanghai.
