A retrospective exhibition honouring one of China's most famous contemporary painters, Wong Zhongqing has been presented in Shanghai. 2007 marks Wang's 60th year in the Arts. The exhibition comprised some 240 paintings representing different periods in Wang's career. The works spanned the period from the 1950's to 2007. Wang's subjects are not confined. He has moved freely from figures, to landscapes, from animals to plants. Each of his paintings is endowed with natural spirit and vitality. Wang Zhongqing was a student of Zhang Daqian, a name eponymous with Chinese style painting. But Wang is also a master of merging eastern and western elements and his works are sought-after by collectors and art lovers.
