Another spatiality, for Liu Xiuming, represents not only an imaginary space beyond natural landscape created in two-dimensional, but also her creative method to accord to her painting “contemporary spirit”. While contemporary art is characterized with new aesthetic regulations and values with the development of photography, video, installation and conceptual art questing beyond workmanship, Liu Xiuming found her unique artistic style in another spatiality. Her paintings have extremely pure appearances with colors of strong saturation and high pureness which produced a kind of ethereal and mysterious atmosphere, another space combining the real with her imagination and soul. With the characteristics of subtle gradations in color and massive views, of pure colors and misty lights, her series of , , and aim to create new worlds inspired and developed from natural landscape rather than to produce recognizable images. Liu Xiuming's solo exhibition will be shown in The Center soon, which is supported by Hutchison Harbouring and Hutchison Whampoa Properties (SH) Gubei.
