The vast collection of artifacts at Beijing's Palace Museum, is at the core of plans aimed at making the Forbidden City and its history more accessible. Scholars and experts convened at a forum during the weekend. Their sessions are a prelude to a full review and elaborate mapping of the museum's resources. The Palace Museum will draw from its vast collection of cultural artifacts. Artifacts will be gathered for an exhibition tracing the complete history of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Another display will act as an introduction to Chinese court culture. One of the aims of the project is to strengthen the bond with the Palace Museum in Taipei. Zheng Xinmiao, curator of the Palace Museum of Beijing, says two sets of books are being prepared. One set, consisting of a massive album, will include photos of 150 thousand cultural artifacts. Alongside this will be a set, listing the complete catalogue of one and a half million cultural relics at the Palace Museum. A series of "theme" exhibition is in the planning stage. Those will be presented after the major work is complete.
