As you probably know people will collect just about anything. But who would think of collecting subway tickets? That's what's happening in Beijing, where the subway authority sold out 100 thousand commemorative tickets on the same day they were released. Who can resist reaching for the wallet when confronted by that time honoured caution: supplies are limited. Most subway stations around Beijing were sold out of the tickets by noon. Soon after 3, there wasn't a ticket to be found. Most had been scooped up by collectors. The subway authority plans to issue a series of collectible tickets, 45 in all. Each will bear the name, photograph, and detailed information about a time-honored business in Beijing. The are restaurants, harmacies, tailors; businesses that have been around for decades and have earned customer loyalty. The next tickets in the series are set to be released in mid December.
