Few things can be said to rival video games for the way they swept around the globe and captured the imagination of people everywhere. One potential rival might be found here in China, where the renewal of traditional culture, has captured the national consciousness. In Wuxi, East China, the two phenomena come together at the first China Classic Culture Design Contest. The China Classic Culture Design Contest is all about video games and animated cartoons. The theme for competition entries is Chinese History, dating back to the conflict torn years of the Three Kingdoms Period. The period began in the 2nd century AD and lasted some five hundred years. The chaotic era is a popular subject in discussions about the traditional culture of China. The event was organized by the Wuxi city government. It's drawn visitors from home and abroad. Among the contestants are professional game designers and students from South Korea, Japan, as well as around China. The competition is open to designers in Asia. Categories include cartoon sketches, mobile phone cartoon clips, video games, flash clips, and 3D animation. The top award for the contest is a cash prize of 100 thousand yuan. After the jury makes its decision, the awards will be handed out, on December 22nd.
