2007-11-23 11:33:32 未知

As painted pictures speak a language that can resonate around the world. Calligraphy is a universal language in Asia. For centuries it has served as a cultural bridge in Chinese diplomacy. The second Sino-Korean Calligraphy Exhibition was held in Beijing last weekend. It's a joint presentation of the South Korean Cultural Service in China and Xue Beihong Art Institute of China People's University. The exhibition features works from nearly a hundred calligraphic masters from both countries. Classic eastern maxims come to life under their deft brush strokes. Calligraphy has long been considered an important art form in China. Its history extends over thousands of years. The exhibits from Chinese calligraphers cover all facets of Chinese character. They boast a common traditional root as well as individual characteristics. Three generations of South Korean calligraphers take part in the exhibition. Besides inheriting from the written form of the Chinese language, South Korean calligraphers are trying to break new ground with innovative, new-style calligraphy featuring Korean characters.
