Han Tombs Unearthed in Beijing

Staff from the Beijing cultural relics bureau came up with a surprise discovery on the outskirts of Beijing earlier this year. A routine field trip uncovered a burial site containing 81 tombs. It's among the largest archaeological sites found in Beijing. Archaeologists have been working the burial site in Beijing's Fengtai district for weeks. Pottery vases have been unearthed. Workers have found glazed bricks. The porcelain and bricks are finely crafted and date back to the Han Dynasty over 2000 years ago. The style of the tomb chambers vary. There are single rooms, double rooms and multiple rooms. Some contain toilets. Some of the tombs were looted in ages past but experts consider the find priceless. Some chambers contain skeletons. There are no epigraphs nor related relics to help archaeologists set a date on the tomb. Its occupants must remain unidentified until further study.
