In a certain sense, Li Jikai’s art shows an aesthetical keynote of the Ego-Generation of the post 70s’.Artists like him don’t have much enthusiasm for the depth of social and political issues. He tries to propose a direction of his art based on the confusion and questions and the lost such as “who am I?”, “Where did I come from?” and “Where will I go?” He is not a non-idealist, he just focuses this “I” in childhood. The “I” has been portrayed in purpose as a Peter Pan, someone who will never grow up.In Li Jikai’s paintings, we can neither see the cultural background nor the historical traces of mankind but rather his own autobiographic imagination and formation of his own mentality. No matter what the content or form is, his work is always connected with solitude and meditation while displaying himself or the others. He then takes us into a world that is completely remade by Li Jikai himself. The exhibition opens on 6th – 20th January, 2008,at Beijing Today Art Museum.
