The exhibition is held jointly by National Art Museum of China and Dunhuang Academy,and the important cultural subject of 2008 Beijing Olympic Game, the special dedication of 2008 new spring to all audiences. The items of exhibition mostly come from Dunhuang Academy, including exquisite 10 recovered antres,13 Dunhuang duplicate colorful sculptures, 120 Dunhuang grotto frescoes copies ,9 Dunhuang original colorful sculptures, 10 original documents from Library Cave of Dunhuang,10 floor tiles of Dunhuang.Ten recovered antres are Cave 3 Mogao Grottoes of Yuan Dynasty 1226-1368A.D.,Cave17 Mogao Grottoes of Late-Tang Dynasty 848-906 A.D.,Cave25 Yulin Grottoes of Mid-Tang Dynasty 781—847A.D., Cave29 Yulin Grottoes of Western Xia Dynasty 1036-1226A.D.,Cave45 Mogao Grottoes of High Tang Dynasty 705—780A.D.,Cave158 Mogao Grottoes of Mid-Tang Dynasty 781—847A.D.,Cave220 Mogao Grottoes of Early Tang Dynasty 618—704A.D., Cave249 Mogao Grottoes of Western Wei Dynasty 535—557A.D., Cave 275 Mogao Grottoes of Northern Liang Dynasty 397-439 A.D.and Cave419 Mogao Grottoes of Sui Dynasty 581-618 A.D.The another exhibitions are “Creation artworks from the Fine Art Research Institute of the Dunhuang Academy Exhibition” and “Famous artists and Dunhuang Exhibition”. “Creation artworks from the Fine Art Research Institute of the Dunhuang Academy Exhibition” collects 75 artworks of famous artists from the Fine Art Research Institute of the Dunhuang Academy since establishment in 1944, including Chang Shuhong,Duan Wenjie,Dong Xiwen and so on.“Famous artists and Dunhuang Exhibition” show more than 70 artworks of famous artists,including Ye Guangqian,Wu Zuoren,Guan Shanyue,Zhang Ding,Jin Shangyi etc. The main artworks are about sketch at Dunhuang,copy fresco scene and so on.These is the first exhibition to show Dunhuang impressive influence to modern and contemporary Chinese artists, manifest the close conjunction between Dunhuang grotto art and China modern art history.
