Chinese Paintings of Four Monks of Qing Dynasty Exhibition Opens at the Forbidden City on 10th,Jan. The 77 artworks mainly come from The Palace Museum. For political reasons, Qing dynasty collected few paintings of Four Monks. But the Palace Museum collected many painting of Four Monks since 1949. All paintings of the exhibition is key role to all researchers of Four Monks.Four Monks of Qing Dynasty are Hong Ren, Kun Can, Ba Da, and Shi Tao.In early Qing Dynasty there were many intellectuals of Han nationality who stuck to their own national integrity. As they hated the ruler of Man nationally bitterly they had a hairless hair-cut and became monks who lived a sequestered life by painting through which to express their anger and melancholy among the woods and mountains for nearly all their lives. All their paintings possessed not only the unconventionally graceful qualities off our masters in Yuan Dynasty whose works were to express their inherited characters.Their Chinese paitings are precious treasures in China.
