Here's another piece about a cultural heritage that people in one part of China hope to export. Zhu Xian county in central China's Henan province is the place where Chinese woodblock painting began. The tradition dates to the Song dynasty around a thousand years ago. Woodblock painters in Zhu Xian county plan to apply for status as part of the world's intangible cultural heritage. The quality of the Zhu Xian woodblock art is also being celebrated with a set of stamps. The set four stamps in total was issued Tuesday by China Post. The four stamps feature four signature "New Year" woodblock paintings of Zhu Xian county. They are based mainly on historical legends or folklore. A commemorative sheet and envelope are also availble along with the stamps. The stamps are equal in value: one yuan and twenty cents.
