Chinese folk sports have a time-honored history. Over the past several decades, photographers and photography fans have shot a myriad of folk sports pictures which themselves have become non-material cultural heritage. In the run-up to the 2008 Olympics, Chinese Folk Sports aims to present the diversity of folk sports to the public and channel public attention to the sports by selecting photos widely and presenting the photos on a large scale. At the same time, this exhibit, as a component of the Humanity Olympics, will enable foreigners to have a better understanding of China with a visual, comprehensive and sensitive access to the Chinese sports culture and the general sports value outlook of the Chinese people. The approximately one year's photo selection and active preparation has resulted in the arrival of tens of thousands of works from over 800 journalists nationwide. The 390 chosen works are reflections of the charming folk sports and a record of lively and entertaining life of the masses.
