Mr. Roger Pfund, the international pioneer in banknotes design, 2003 winner of the Officier de l'Ordre des Arts & des Lettres of the French Republic, and famous Swiss designer, artist, and painter will visit China for the first time to hold the “PFUND - Beijing 2008” exhibition at the Beijing Today Art Museum from May 10th to May 31st. The exhibition is jointly held by the Ministry of Culture of People’s Republic of China and the Embassy of Switzerland, undertook by China International Exhibition Agency and Beijing Today Art Museum, and is the very important Olympic-related culture event organized by the Ministry of Culture in 2008. The exhibition will showcase Pfund’s classic works over the years, including banknotes design, paintings, and other artistic efforts. Many of his works have won international awards. Pfund invented the thematic design of banknotes and securities and introduced CAD (Computer Aided Design) technologies into banknotes designing. The Beijing Today Art Museum will showcase his banknotes and securities designs, including Swiss Franc, Euro, and Swiss passports and visas. The level of perfection of his work has set new standards in the graphics industry. Chinese visitors will enjoy an eye-opening experience with a taste of delicate technology and intelligent design. Actually, Mr. Pfund is invited regularly by the Chinese banknotes and passports design bodies to provide assistance and coaching support.Furthermore, this exhibition will also feature major works of Mr. Pfund in painting, graphic design, architecture and event design. His showcased works include the series of Maria Callas portrait, the designs for Beijing 2008 event in Olympic Museum in Lausanne, SICPA 75th anniversary presentation book, Expo 02 (Swiss national exhibition) multimedia production, the design and layout of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum, etc. Chinese designers and art lovers will have the opportunity to closely converse with this master and appreciate distinctive artistic concepts from the other side of the continent.
