On April 3rd, 2008, BizArt Art Center hold Li Pinghu’s solo exhibition “Honeycomb”.Li Pinghu considers that bonzais are not meant to be admired at home, in cities, but should be growing in fields. Therefore, he set a destination in the suburb, and transported there, everyday, bonzais with a tricycle, planting and watering them through the day before carrying them back. Li Pinghu says that cities resemble honeycombs, where people bustle around and about like bees. However, as he doesn't seem to have anything to do, he decided to keep himself busy for a month this way.Li Pinghu, born in 1976 in Nanchong, Sichuan, graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Sichuan Academy of Arts, he now lives and works in Shanghai. Some people consider him as an artist who seeks for ‘strength’, his artworks are experiences which should be endured by both himself and his public. Li Pinghu’s recently participated to two exhibitions within the framework of an international artist exchange program with Ssamzie Space (Korea), an offsite exhibition of the 52nd Venice Biennale and “Interventions”, in year 2007; the 2nd “Young Artists Exhibition of Duolun MoMA”, “Delighting therapy”, in 2006 and “Six tents exhibition”, “Rumor Decor” Photography exhibition, in year 2005.
