Two Exhibitions Celebrating Guangzhou-Frankfurt Friendship

Two exhibitions to celebrate the 20th anniversary of friendship between Guangzhou and Frankfurt opened at the Guandong Museum of Art recently. The exhibition with the name "Inter Change" are the cooperation between German's Atelier Goldstein and mentally disabled artists from Guangzhou.At the "Inter Change - Workshop with Disabled Artists" atelier Goldstein in Frankfurt on the Main (Germany) is an internationally operating studio for artists with special needs. Its works, which have been presented in numerous exhibitions, have been testimonials to a way of working that can best be described with the concept of "art in the social context".As ambassadors of the City of Frankfurt on the Main, seven artists from the Atelier will exhibit their works at the Guangdong Museum of Art, from April 8 - 20, 2008. This exhibition is a part of the program "Frankfurt at the Pearl River", which celebrates the 20 year existence of the city twinning between Guangzhou and Frankfurt.Extremely individual statements will be shown from the fields of sculpture, painting, drawing and graphics. They will provide a vivid overview of the wide spectrum of artistic creation and of the high quality of the works from Atelier Goldstein.The exhibition will be opened by Dr. Petra Roth, the Lady Mayor of the City of Frankfurt.In addition, in the same exhibition, the results of the cooperation between Atelier Goldstein and mentally disabled artists from Guangzhou will be shown. These works will be created during a workshop which will be held within the facilities of the museum from March 30 to April 7. Three artists from Atelier Goldstein will thereby work artistically with their hosts from the People's Republic of China. The workshop will be facilitated by the Goldstein employees Elizabeth Coleman-Link and Melanie Schmitt.artwork Another exhibition "Best of Unpublished German Book Design" collects the winning works of Germany's Most Beautiful Books Award between 2006 and 2007 and Germany's Best Unpublished Books Design.The exhibition will feature the best deigns of Germany's books. It consists of two parts. The first part is Germany's Most Beautiful Books, featuring the winning works of Germany's Most Beautiful Books Award between 2006 and 2007. The Award is the highest honorary event of Germany's state-level book design. Its criteria focus on the coordination between content and form through the expression of visual and tactile beauty.The second part is Germany's Best Unpublished Books Design: Exhibition of Books with the Best Design and Concept from Higher Institutions of Austria and Switzerland. Contestants of the second Germany's Best Unpublished Book Design Works are all young designers who graduated from school not more than two years ago. Their works are judged mainly on creativity and reasonable plan, and the compatibility between concept and form and the ultimate enforcement of aesthetics.exhibition scene
