Beautiful Compassion-Xu Ze’s China Scenic Series

Xu Ze’s "China Scenic Series" is beautiful in vision, compassionate in emotion, so we can see the beauty could not block the sadness, feeling sad without forgetting the beauty. In the cool colors mixed with beauty and sadness, viewing past and today, with construction debris and scattered in the ruins of cultural debris, tha artist shows us a unique Chinese landscape. We seem to see that the urban demolition campaign with the sudden fall in housing, and elegant landscape of the heart, together with the old painting landscapes and figures have been torn into pieces and buried together…… when painful cries gradually become silent in the minds, we feel the melancholy.This is an artwork created by Xu Ze in 2007. It echoes the new trends in China’s contemporary art, from the artist's personal experience dedicated to focusing on the broad masses of people to survive reality. Series works to the scale, he works very hard to put the cruelness and the peacefulness in the memories,just like a childish children, tears in his eyes and broken vases repaired in his hands. In such a civilised country, a robust modern era, the artists inquires the memory of the late obdurately, renews the cut context.The scenes and the feelings seem a dream, make people meditating.

This series of works use Chinese paintings of the screen to accommodate the form of pictures, but they have a sense of entities such as the installation works. Today, man-made construction is shockingly piled continuously embedded fragments of the dream of yesterday, the recollections of embedding, which embed the pain, confusion into which…… gradually, the old painting landscapes in the accumulation of a landscape become itself. We stand in the face of the landscape, found themselves come from the reality of the past, from the past to return to a reality.The works embody the process of China's modernization in the sense of ecological culture, with rich critical spirit. However, the painter's Oriental temperament has given the picture flexiblility just like the water, so that everything becomes clear at aglance. We find that form and content, all in the antithesis of the painting they exist in a clear order, and they are harmonious full of tension to the conflict--traditional and the modern, past and today,staying and lapsing, stacking and scattering, rendering and molding, cold colour and hot impact, obstinate block and the verving water colour-- we see that the moisture of a pen erode the hardness of the construction waste, the hidden form change the suffocating the accumulation into a coherent body, as if mountain reverberates a deep long sigh. Picture intertwines in a rich rhythm, the reality changing into the artistic harmony, the painflu but powful cries changing into poetic elegy, so that we can contemplate continuously between the beauty in view and sadness in emotion.
