Now to a more contemporary interpretation of art, as Doodling becomes a doorway to great art-at least that's the contention of a group of Filipino artists.Filipino graphic artists turn blank walls into artistic murals. Then they actively promote doodling as a way to cultivate creativity.One group of artists in Manila cannot resist a blank wall. Armed with magic markers, the doodlers, transform a clear wall into doodle art over a space of about 30 minutes. The work is spontaneous and executed without planning.They have day jobs as graphic artists for a television network. And during their days, they doodle in their notebooks to flesh out ideas.Last year, they formed a group-WeWillDoodle. Now they are being commissioned to work on wall murals for apartments and restaurants.Paolo Ferrer, Graphic Artisi / Co-founder of Wewilldoodle, said, "Doodling makes the basic building blocks for art. Before you can make a grand masterpiece, you have no choice but to start with doodles. So in that sense, it seems that the instinct to create is so basic."The art is intriguing as much in the creative process as it is in its completed state. During the free flow session, the artists draw whatever comes to mind and build on each other's ideas. Their minds are completely absorbed, fully engaged in the creative effort.Pino Restaurant in Manila hired WeWillDoodle to create a wall mural. The owner says the drawings spice up the otherwise plain interiors.Palol Peralta, Co-owner of Pino Restaurant, said, "We commissioned the group to perform the art work. It's like music, you hire a musician to do his thing. You don't interfere."On a recent weekend, WeWillDoodle held an art event in a shopping mall. They were on a mission, to encourage more people to doodle. They believe anyone can doodle, and everyone must doodle, for art. And creativity, they say can provide solutions to many of life's difficult challenges.Curious children joined in, fighting for magic markers and space on the two-sided wall-doodling their way perhaps, to art mastery.
