Business Urged to Put its Money Where its Art is

A survey into arts funding in Tasmania has shown the state needs a boost from the business sector. The survey by the Australia Business Arts Foundation shows that arts and cultural organisations in Tasmania received $2.7 million from the private sector last year, which is less than two per cent of the national total. The foundation's Tasmanian manager, Hayley Horton, says the private sector has an important contribution to make."The arts and culture are an important part of Tasmania's way of life," she said."And there's a lot of benefits that can be found with partnering with the arts that are unique and of great value to business, including things like staff retention and development profiling in the community and community engagement."
