A massive auction of Hollywood memorabilia is coming soon to Los Angeles. The auction house profiles in History, says the sale will feature some items that are a century old.

The miniature model from the 1977 film "Star Wars", measures only 17 inches high and 14 inches wide. It's expected to sell for between 150 to 200 thousand U.S. dollars.

The auction includes items extending over the broad span of cinema history. The Spartan battle costume, worn in the 2006 Warner Brothers film "300," is expected to sell for 18 to 22,000 dollars. The original stone tablets from the 1956 epic "The Ten Commandments," is expected to attract a final bid between 30 and 50 thousand dollars.

Joseph Maddalena, founder of Profiles in History , said, "People say to me, 'Why do people buy these?' It's nostalgia. It brings you back to a happy moment in your life. Everybody has a film or a TV show that they love, and people take it one step further. And it's just like buying contemporary art. You take your Arnold Schwarzenegger 'Terminator' costume and you could put it right next to a sculpture of somebody else and threes no different impulse. It's the same impulse. It's the same pride of ownership."

In recent years, the market for this sort of film and television memorabilia has undergone an apparent shift. Overseas purchasers have become more and more active.

Joseph Maddalena, said, "Our client base is global, especially now with the weakness of the dollar, half the things that we sell go overseas. England, Germany, Belgium, India, China, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, our client base is everywhere. And that's the thing. It's the same people who watch movies. 'The Dark Knight," all over the world people are watching that, if you're in Jamaica or New Zealand, you're watching 'The Dark Knight,' and that's what this is. The great thing for us is that the world is embracing this collectable, it's getting more and more popular, because it is relatively scarce. Very few things do survive the production of these films."

Among other items on the auction block are superhero costumes. There's Ben Affleck's costume from "Daredevil." There's Tobey Maguire's Spider-man costume. There's an original costume worn by Christopher Reeves in the 1978 Warner Brothers hit, "Superman."

They'll be auctioning the suits worn by Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith in "Men In Black," and right next to those -- the weapons used in the film. Profiles in History will also auction off Tom Hanks military uniform from "Forrest Gump."
