The Chinese Sunken Park, the Lucky Cloud Houses and performances of traditional Chinese folk arts are on the bill at Beijing's Olympic Park. Let's take a look at what's in store for those who have come to savour the culture as much as the Olympic competitions.
On a sightseeing vehicle heading down a slope, one comes to the Chinese Sunken Garden. It's 9 meters below ground level. The Garden is characterized by compounds, that may be likened to the red walls of the Forbidden City and traditional Beijing courtyards. There are "Jiqing Drums", or the Lucky and Festive Drums, symbols of traditional Chinese culture. The Bronze-bell, an ancient Chinese musical instrument, is also visible along the route, enhancing the oriental flavour of the scenic tour. Straight ahead, there're arrays of white tents. They are called Lucky Cloud Houses. Here is where China's intangible cultural heritage, folk arts and customs are on display.
Apart from all this, a series of song and dance performances will be staged in the center of Olympic Park throughout the Games. Check it out yourself. It'll be worth your while!
