An international sculpture festival got underway over the weekend in the northeastern Chinese city of Changchun.

The works are based on the theme of "Friendship and Peace." The Second Changchun International Sculpture Festival brings together more than eight hundred established artists from home and abroad. A series of exhibitions is planned to display the latest works of the artists.

Among the exhibitions are "The Image of China", "Plastic Arts of France", and "Retrospect on Northeast China". Visitors also are invited to take part in seminars and lectures.
