Depart---- Tian Ye’s Exhibition Circuit of New Works 2008 will be on diaplay in Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art.

On this Exhibition there are 19 easel works in which we can see the figures like Traffic sign, Tiananmen, Siheyuan and so on. The artist carried out these works when he was in France recent two years. The color using full of artist’s own style and that was a great transition and also quest for art language. The new works will must be a great surprise to the contemporary art world in China.

“Depart” suggested not only an unknown art way, but also the restart after the artist’s “spending ten years to mold a good sword” in France.

This time exhibition involves three cities that are Beijing, Shanghai and Paris. This is the third stop after Beijing, Paris show, and we look forward his new works be presented in Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art on 25th September.

The signs like McDonald are positive quote from a great number of city signs which represent consumption society. The intensity of these signs depend on not only the attribute themselves but also the universality in daily life. It also depends on the recognition by cities.

The artist also used some traffic signs which possesses visual completeness and unitarity, meanwhile, they reflects the characteristic of region, culture, and time. However, traffic signs are different from the commercial signs. And the quotation of the Traffic signs is a two-tier quotation.

In the city series, there are some culture signs like Tiananmen, Temple of Heaven and so on which are familiar historical bequest for us. In Tian Ye’s works, these do not show the historical meaning but a new relationship between sign and sign in here and now situation.
