Till the end of October 30, an art exhibition "Jacob Sails to China" based on the voyage of the east Indiaman "Götheborg" 1743-1745 is being on display at the centurial Guangzhou Museum in the Yuexiu Hill, Guangzhou, South China.
The exhibited color illustrations are from an illustration book "Jacob Sails to China", which depicts a 10-year-old Swedish "seaboy" Jacob's voyage on Ship "Götheborg" from Nol near Gothenburg, Sweden, to Guangzhou some 260 years ago.
During 1984-1992, Anita Steiner, author and illustrator of the book, documented the excavations of the East Indianan. At that time, three kids asked her to share stories of "Götheborg". Busy with the job at that time, Anita promised them to paint an illustration for them. Years later, she integrated history with imagination and finished the story book.
To experience the Jacob's voyage, the museum showcases parts of the excavated porcelain scraps white wax products and wood sheets from Ship "Götheborg".
