Chinese handicrafts are highlighted at an art exhibition at the Cultural Palace of Nationalities in Beijing. Two thousand delicate art pieces lifelike in appearance or simply exquisite in quality inspire awe among spectators.

The two-thousand works extend over many categories of traditional craft. There're jade, ivory and wood carvings - pottery, metal ware, lacquer ware, embroidery and furniture.

The works are innovative pieces representing the best of local craftsmanship - skills on the brink of extinction. The display items were selected from submissions from all around China. The traditional handicraft exhibition is held every two years.
