International Digital Media Touring Exhibition:Common Ground in Beijing

2008-11-12 10:53:32 未知

Common Ground is an international digital media touring exhibition focused on the topic of environmental stewardship. Throughout history, artists have played a vital role in shaping the 'world-view' of their day. So we've invited artists from all over the globe to use the expressive language they know best - visual art and design - to dramatically demonstrate their concerns for our shared environment.

The truth is, we hear everywhere about being 'Green" and 'Sustainable.' But so often, these terms seem to offer little real practical meaning beyond rhetoric and posturing.

But underneath all the words, is a truth that cannot be ignored: We all inhabit the same place that we call home: Earth. That is our Common Ground. We may be divided by borders, language and cultural identity. But still we share the SAME water, the SAME air, the SAME plants, and the SAME common ground that sustains, protects and feeds us all on this planet.

Common Ground is an online community of artists, designers, galleries, curators, art patrons, art institutions, art consumers and concerned citizens. The Common Ground exhibition will take place every 2 years to coincide with the host city of the Summer and Winter Olympic games.

The 2008 Common Ground Collection will premier in Beijing at the Huan Tie Art Museum. The opening reception will include works from renowned artists from over 40 countries, a special selection of 20 gifted Chinese artists, and screenings of several innovative films, all with works focused on the environment. Common Ground is pleased to invite distinguished guests and the entire Beijing community to its opening reception on Sunday, November 9th, from 3 - 6 pm, at Huan Tie Times Art Museum (see map attached).

A worldwide single printing of 250 hardcover books featuring the Common Ground 2008 collection has been published with the support of HP and A&I Digital Services. All proceeds from the book will be donated to Common Ground's Non-Profit Partners: The World Wildlife Fund, Global Giving, and the Global Environmental Institute. A limited number of books will be available for sale at the Beijing premier exhibition.
