A major new art exhibition called "Turning the Season" explores the affects of seasonal changes on British art, writing and performance. The exhibition -- which is open to the public continues until February.
Among the exhibits transforming the Wapping Space project in East London are a tree full of birdhouses. There's a rooftop lily pond -- a horde of porcelain deer skulls. The artists involved have been asked to play with the idea of the British Season. The works are divided between town and country. All strive to illuminate hidden meanings of the seasons.
Inside the gallery visitors can view a large photo-montage revealing the break of a loving couple. There's a boiler house covered in grass and set up for a picnic. The Wapping project was launched by Jules Wright in 1993. It is committed to commissioning new works from young and established artists. The facility is set up in an old hydraulic power station built in 1890. Now the old "character" building offers artists a unique urban venue to display their works.
