An elaborate exhibition called "Czars, Art and Culture from Imperial Russia," soon will open at the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City. The exhibits come from Russia's State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg.
There are more than 500 objects including furniture, textiles, paintings silverware, jewelry and personal objects. They are artifacts of the Russian imperial family's daily life dating from the 17th to the early 20th centuries. Mostly are from the Romanov dynasty which ruled Russia for more than three centuries from 1613 to 1917. The items will be on display from December 6 until April 2009.
The exhibition, one of the most important Russian art collections, focuses on the significance and symbolism of the pieces. It aims to offer a more complete vision of Russian imperial history.
There are carriages, lavish costumes worn by members of the dynasty. The throne of Nicholas the second is there. Other highlights include jewelry manufactured especially for the emperors and the famous imperial Faberge eggs, displayed in Paris, in 1900.
"Czars, Art and Culture from Imperial Russia," will be distributed among four rooms. Each room will represent a season of the year.
