This year marks the 30th anniversary of the adoption of China's reform and opening up policy. The policy took China from isolation, launched many development programs and made China the important world power it is today. The achievements of the past 30 years have inspired painters and calligraphers. A national painting exhibition focused on the theme is open in Xi'an at the Shaanxi Provincial Art Museum.
The event began coming together in October. Organizers began soliciting submissions of art works from across China and overseas. Within a month 26 thousand works had been offered. Organizers meticulously selected eight hundred pieces to be shown at a grand exhibition. The works include ink and brush paintings, calligraphy and inscriptions.
Organized by the Shaanxi Arts Research Institute, the exhibition is the largest of its kind in the province. An award ceremony was held Tuesday evening to honor the best works. 30 works received special achievement awards. 50 were awarded the golden prize and 63 got silver awards.
The winning entries will be on display at the Shaanxi Provincial Art Museum until Saturday.
