A fine art exhibition got underway in Shanghai this week. Being held for the 12th time, the biennial event aims to encourage young artists living in the city. This year, the invitational show displays nearly 70 works from 22 painters and sculptors, most of whom are in their 30s.

Titled "Where the Sea and Sky Meet", the show was inaugurated in 1986. Of the nearly 300 artists it has promoted, a number have gained national recognition. The show will run for one week at the Liu Haisu Art Gallery, before moving to other venues.
