Chou Kung-hsin, director of the Taipei's “National Palace Museum,” said she will lead a delegation from her institution on February 14 to conduct its first exchange with the Palace Museum in Beijing. She expressed hopes that the palace museums on both sides of the strait will establish a substantial exchange mechanism in the future to provide the best services for visitors on both sides.
Chou said that during this trip, her delegation will hold talks with Beijing's Palace Museum on academic research, exhibitions, publishing, personnel exchanges and the construction of a media publicity mechanism.
Taipei's National Palace Museum will hold an exhibition about Emperor Yongzheng (1678-1735) of the Qing Dynasty in October of this year and plans to borrow historical treasures including portraits of Emperor Yongzheng from Beijing's Palace Museum. The two palace museums will have discussions on this topic.
The delegation from Taipei's National Palace Museum will visit Beijing from February 14-16, before visiting Shanghai from February 17-19 where it will conduct exchanges with the Shanghai Museum.
